The first original Silent Hill release in years seems to be a bit of a hit with Konami announcing that 1 million copies of the game were sold in the first 24 hours of the game's official release date. Ignoring the two days of advanced-access for Deluxe owners, Silent Hill f officially came out on September 25th for PlayStation 5. By September 26th, the one million sold milestone was reached.
Silent Hill f is the first fully original Silent Hill game since 2012's Silent Hill: Downpour. A smattering of Silent Hill titles were released between 2012 and now but they were either re-imaginings (Silent Hill: Book of Memories), a demo for what may one day be (Silent Hill: The Short Message), a playable teaser of a game that will never be (P.T.), or remasters and remakes (Silent Hill HD Collection, Silent Hill 2).
Interestingly, Silent Hill f is the first Silent Hill title that doesn't take place in Silent Hill, the any town USA from previous mainline entries. Silent Hill f takes place in 1960s Japan but still retains a lot of the core Silent Hill elements such as dense fog, lots of monsters, and plenty of repressed psychological trauma.
