Effectively immediately, the pricing on all Xbox consoles, controllers, headsets, and other peripherals have been increased. In an announcement made today, Xbox says that the price increase on consoles and accessories begins May 1 with pricing on some Xbox games going up to $79.99 for the holiday season.
These price increases are global, with just one exception: Headsets. Headset prices are going up only in the United States and Canada.
The prices have gone up substantially for the hardware, with the very basic Xbox Series S 512GB going from $299.99 to $379.99. All of the new prices for the United States can be found below, with other regional pricing shared through this Xbox Support page.

We understand that these changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration given market conditions and the rising cost of development. Looking ahead, we continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and ensuring value for Xbox players.
We can probably safely assume that the next Call of Duty title will show up at $80 when it launches. It's also very likely that the new Fable game will drop at $80, though that one was recently pushed to a 2026 release window. Some other high-profile Xbox titles that are in the pipeline that will probably launch at $80 include the new Perfect Dark, Gears of War: E-Day, and even possibly State of Decay 3 from Undead Labs.
In June, Microsoft plans to hold a special Xbox Games Showcase and a dedicated Direct for The Outer Worlds 2. It's possible we will learn more about game price increases at one or both of these events.
Sony also recently increased prices for hardware, but only in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. At the same time, Sony increased the pricing on the PlayStation 5 Disc Drive in the same regions.
