The dynamic duo of 505 Games and developer Ingame Studios just launched a playtest of Crime Boss: Rockay City on Steam. This playtest allows you to try out the game ahead of the full Steam release on June 18th. It also presumably gives the developers a chance to make sure all of their systems are working properly.
If you recall, and even if you don't, Crime Boss: Rockay City is a 90s-era heist game that debuted on PC via the Epic Games Store in March 2023. Since that initial rocky launch (no pun intended), the game has received what I'm calling a boatload of updates. These updates were made in response to the complaints and issues encountered by players over the past several months.
How is the game now? I'm not sure. I never played it but you can always find out for yourself right now by checking out the playtest. Who knows, it may end up filling that heisting itch that Payday 3 failed to scratch for a lot of people.
If you like what you played, Crime boss: Rockay City will be available for sale for about $20 at launch. If you purchase the game within its first month of Steam availability you will also get all of the DLC for free.
