Some users have reported better performance after today's patch.

The promised first update for Dragon's Dogma 2 from Capcom came out on March 29th. With it, the developers finally added a way for players to begin a new game without manually deleting files from their system.

As we already had information about this update from Capcom days before it was released, there aren't too many surprises here. Today's update does indeed add in that new game option when save data already exists. This will, of course, allow you to restart the game if you want to freely redo your character and Pawn designs, or for any ol' reason you want to.

The other notable additions in today's update include a bump in the number of the "Art of Metamorphosis" items you can purchase. These items allow you to fully redo the look of your character or main Pawn. There will now be 99 of them available for purchase at Pawn Guilds. Homes can now be purchased a bit earlier into the game than previously. There are two house locations in Vernworth and one in Bakbattahl.

Strangely enough, today's update may have improved performance for some players despite the update supposedly not including any mention of performance tweaks. Some users on Reddit and even the Steam Community forums have reported that their game, especially in the capital city of Vernworth, runs "significantly better" following this update. Of course, there are still others that are saying their game is now running a lot worse following this update.

These changes in performance are all just anecdotal right now. Capcom made no mention of any performance improvements for this update and have said that performance updates are being worked on for future updates. Still, perhaps some of those "miscellaneous bug fixes" addressed an issue that caused extremely high CPU usage in NPC dense areas, which could realistically lead to better performance for some people.
