Learning something new after 25 hours.
A team of fighters take on a giant griffon.

I am just shy of 25 hours of play time in Dragon's Dogma 2 (let's ignore the time spent trying to adjust all sorts of graphical options to make the game not run like garbage), and I am only now finding out about a new gameplay mechanic. Were you aware that you can use the various trebuchets you come across in Dragon's Dogma 2?

Sure, the usable ballista were probably rather obvious, especially given how you can see one used right near the start of the game. The real surprise for players like myself are the usable trebuchets you have probably run right by. Despite Dragon's Dogma 2 being out for a few days now, Twitter user Peppo_LS looks to be one of the first to bring their usability to the public. This seems rather evident given the number of shocked replies showing off the trebuchet in action.

From what we can tell, only some of the trebuchets scattered around the world can actually be used. Several that you have walked by were probably broken. Still, if you do find a working one, it might be worth your time to find a nearby rock to arm it with. It seems like the trebuchets can be used to open up additional pathways that may otherwise be inaccessible.

Dragon's Dogma 2 was released on March 22, 2024. Its release has been quite the mixed bag for fans. The game is quite a bit of fun but it suffers from poor performance on all platforms. It also shipped with a fair number of shortcut-style, optional microtransactions that have made some people irrationally angry. Capcom has at least acknowledged that they are aware of the performance issues and hope to have updates out in the future. In the short term, Capcom says that they will be getting an update out shortly that allows you to start a new game.
