The latest from Capcom is being demolished by fans for a myriad of issues.
A dragon breathing fire.

Dragon's Dogma 2 released last night (or today, depending on time zones) on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Though receiving generally favorable reviews, the latest title from Capcom has not launched without several issues on all platforms. The console versions of Dragon's Dogma 2 struggle to maintain a locked 30 FPS, but that 30 FPS target was at least known about ahead of the game's release.

On PC, especially for those with extremely high-end systems, performance has been severely hindered. On top of the performance and technical issues, Dragon's Dogma 2 also lacks the ability to start a new game as it restricts players to just one save slot. Then there are the nearly two dozen individual pieces of paid DLC that were surprise dropped alongside the game's launch which have been met with disgust from players.

The DLC is priced from about $1 up to about $5. Some of the DLC options include piecemeal access to the items included in the Deluxe Edition of Dragon's Dogma 2, including a few useful and non-cosmetic items. On top of being able to purchase these Deluxe Edition items as DLC, there are also several purchase options for purchasing Wakestones and Rift Crystals. Wakestones are items that allow you to revive on the spot if you die in battle. Rift Crystals are a type of in-game currency used to hire player-created Pawns or to purchase special items.

While most of these items seem to be obtainable through the course of normal gameplay, their surprise appearance right at release rubbed players the wrong way. Many see these items as "pay to win" despite the game being single player. The fact that these released alongside a technically troubled game that starts at $70 is probably the biggest complaint from players.

As a combined result of these issues, Dragon's Dogma 2 sits at only a 40% "Mixed" review score on Steam. Just a day following its release, Capcom is attempting to tackle the damage by issuing a statement about the biggest complaints from players.

Regarding Frame Rate
A large amount of CPU usage is allocated to each character and calculating the impact of their physical presence in various areas. In certain situations where numerous characters appear simultaneously, the CPU usage can be very high and may affect the frame rate. We are aware that in such situations, settings that reduce GPU load may currently have a limited effect; however, we are looking into ways to improve performance in the future.
