There's a sucker born every minute.
A Star Citizen bundle that costs $48,000.

Cloud Imperium Games is readying a new ship bundle for the highest of high rolling gamers out there. The Star Citizen developer has launched the $48,000 (USD) Legatus 2953 pack.

Wait a second though, this gets even better. In order to even be allowed to spend $48,000, you must first spend $1,000 or more on other items for Star Citizen. Spending $1,000 or more on Star Citizen grants you access to the "Star Citizen Chairman's Club," which grants a few additional perks not available to those outside the 1%.

Let's say that you've now spent, at a minimum, the $49,000 you need to spend in order to purchase the Legatus 2953 pack. What exactly does that amount of money get you? Well, it grants you access to over 175 ships from every manufacturer currently in the game. It also seems to grant buyers access to a slew of cosmetics, ship decorations, paint options, liveries, player armor, and more.

Sadly, Cloud Imperium Games says that the Karna "Ascension" Rifle in the pack is not yet available but will be added in Q1 2024.

Thus far, Star Citizen has raised over $658 million (USD) and has been in development for about 14 years now. At least the recent trailer for the single player component, Squadron 42, is looking quite good.

Update: There does seem to be a bit of confusion on how much someone needs to spend before being granted the ability to purchase the $48,000 pack. Some sources say you need to spend only $1,000 and be granted access to the Chariman's Club. Other sources suggest that you need to spend at least $10,000 before the option to purchase the $48,000 Legatus 2953 pack opens to you.

Either way, that's a stupid amount of money for a pack of virtual ships.
