Game developer Hideo Kojima took to the stage at The Game Awards 2023 to reveal a new trailer for OD (Overdose). This is his upcoming experience that Kojima Productions is creating alongside Xbox Game Studios for the Xbox platform.
The trailer for OD is about as vague and as cryptic as a Hideo Kojima trailer could be. We got a look at several different faces all speaking or screaming out at the viewer. Kojima also shared a tiny bit of information during an on-stage interview with The Game Awards showrunner Geoff Keighley.
The interview with Kojima, which ran for several minutes longer than any acceptance speech was permitted, basically told us nothing at all about OD. Kojima at least notes that OD will be something that "no one has seen before."
It is a game, don’t get me wrong, but it’s at the same time a movie and at the same time a new form of media.
In my films, I’m always trying to maximize the immersion, put the audience into the main character’s shoes. Hideo is the master of this and he does it on a whole other level. What he’s cooking up here is completely immersive, utterly terrifying, and I am absolutely honored to be collaborating with the GOAT. Let’s go.
Kojima did note that Jordan Peele isn't the only creative partner he brought on board for OD. While he "can't really say who they are" just yet, he does say that "they are legends and they are amazing."
It isn't clear when we will see more information shared for OD. Chances are that when a new trailer is shown off, it will be just as vague and as cryptic as this reveal teaser was.
