  • Another Small Starfield Patch Released

Good news for AMD GPU users.
An astronaut standing on an alien planet.

A new, albeit small, update for Starfield was released earlier today by Bethesda Game Studios. The update only contains a few lines of fixes, improvements, and changes but is actually quite impactful for those with AMD GPUs.

This update, named Patch 1.7.33, tackles some performance and stability issues that users have experienced while playing. I've lost track of how many times my game has randomly decided to freeze and crash, so any improvements in this area are quite welcome.

Those with AMD GPUs will be happy to hear that Bethesda fixed a graphical glitch related to star lens flares. Apparently, there was a bug where those on AMD hardware just couldn't see a planet's parent star in the sky. It just wasn't there at all.

Today's update also addresses an issue related to the game's upscaling implementation that would cause textures to look more blurry than they should. Starfield officially supports FSR 2 from AMD as well as FidelityFX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS). Bethesda did say that official DLSS support would be coming at some point in the future. Until then, there are user mods for both DLSS and XeSS support.

The full notes for Patch 1.7.33 can be found below.

See what critics are saying about the most anticipated game of 2023.

The first major wave of reviews are in for Starfield and, well, they aren't bad. They're not super great either but they certainly aren't bad.

According to OpenCritic, Starfield currently sits at an average review score of 87% with 93% of all reviewers recommending the game. The scores for this one seem to range from as low as 50% to as high as 100% (or 10 out of 10 to be more specific).

      Review: Starfield
      by Shawn Zipay
A safe, if not soulless, journey through the cosmos.

Bethesda Game Studios releases are safe. They are familiar. You know almost exactly what to expect when a major new release from them rolls around. They instill a feeling of "I know this game won't be groundbreaking, but I know I'll have fun." Yes, there are some obvious differences, but the heart of each Bethesda game is almost universally the same. The recent release of Starfield is no different. To put it bluntly: Starfiel...

RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and New Game Ready Driver Released by Nvidia
      by Shawn Zipay
The new Nvidia 50 Series has officially launched.

The Nvidia RTX 50 Series is here with today's launch of the GeForce RTX 5090 and GeForce RTX 5080. Naturally, the cards all seem to be sold out already across online retailers and brick-and-mortar stores. This was probably expected because it basically happens every single time. You could always just hit up sites like eBay where you'll see either scalpers attempting to sell the card at a hefty premium, or you'll find people selling...
