So is this PC version that "doesn't exist" actually announced now or...?
A person wearing light armor and with a sword on their back is bent down petting a dog.

Earlier this year, Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida said that if you wanted to play the new Square Enix developed RPG you should just "buy a PlayStation 5." He sure seemed to indicate at that time that a PC release of the game just wasn't in the cards yet.

Of course, this is assuming you ignore the initial trailer reveal of Final Fantasy 16 that included "also available on PC." A line that was then edited out and re-uploaded by Square Enix on their own channels to try to alter history or something. This is also ignoring the initial rumor about Final Fantasy 16 being a six-month timed-exclusive on PlayStation before being allowed to be released on other platforms, even PC.

But no no, we were told by Yoshi-P that we should just buy a PlayStation 5 if we want to play Final Fantasy 16! There was no mythical PC version of the game coming, only PlayStation!

Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida, the same one that said to just "buy a PlayStation 5," took to the Japanese PlayStation Blog to say that he would "like to release a PC version at some point." He also just flat out confirmed that Final Fantasy 16 is a six-month timed-exclusive on PlayStation 5!

The bad news here, is that despite a lot of those previous rumors and speculation being confirmed true, Yoshi-P continues on to say, "the PC version will not come out in half a year." Ugh... Alright, let's get the full quote, courtesy of a Google translation of the blog entry.

"I've caused a bit of a stir with my remarks the other day, but I'd like to touch on the PC version. First of all, it is true that FINAL FANTASY XVI is a six-month limited time exclusive on the PS5 platform. However, it is a completely different story that the PC version will be released in half a year. I will make it clear, but the PC version will not come out in half a year.

"This is because we spent a lot of time and money optimizing the PS5 platform to deliver the best gaming experience. Of course, I would like to release a PC version at some point so that everyone can play as many games as possible. However, even if we start optimizing the PC version after the PS5 version comes out, we won't be able to optimize it in half a year, so it won't come out in a short span of half a year. I would like to release it eventually, and I think I will, but I am not at the stage where I can say when.

"First of all, I would be happy if you could play the PS5 version, which I made with the thought of being the best game in the world. If the PC version comes out in half a year, I can quit the company (laughs). Please don't say, 'I won't buy the PS5 version because the PC version will be released in half a year'."
As it currently stands, after all this beating around the bush nonsense, is sure does look like there will be a PC version coming. The PlayStation version is indeed a six-month timed-exclusive. HOWEVER, don't expect the PC version to be out right as that six month period ends because the PC version still won't be ready at that point. Thus, if you don't want to wait a long while, potentially years, you can pick up the PlayStation 5 version of the game. If you're fine with waiting, or have no choice, just wait for the PC release.

Are we good now, Square Enix? Is this an official official confirmation that a PC version is coming in the future? Can we stop this whole confusing nonsense now? Can we all stop pretending like a PC version was never in the cards?

Check back in a couple of months when the PC version once again isn't coming and was never planned from the start.
