25 minutes of Final Fantasy 16 information.

A special State of Play focused on Final Fantasy 16 aired a short time ago today. PlayStation and Square Enix shared quite a bit of new footage and information on this upcoming PS5 exclusive action-RPG.

Final Fantasy 16 is out on June 22 for the PlayStation 5. Other platforms, including a potential PC release, have not yet been officially announced or confirmed yet. ...

So is this PC version that "doesn't exist" actually announced now or...?

Earlier this year, Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida said that if you wanted to play the new Square Enix developed RPG you should just "buy a PlayStation 5." He sure seemed to indicate at that time that a PC release of the game just wasn't in the cards yet.

Of course, this is assuming you ignore the initial trailer reveal of Final Fantasy 16 that included...

Producer Naoki Yoshida seems to suggest a PC release isn't happening at all.

When Square Enix first revealed Final Fantasy XVI it wasn't really clear if the game would be released later on PC. Most of us kind of assumed it would be since, you know, every other Final Fantasy has come to PC eventually. The initial trailer reveal, still up on YouTube courtesy of IGN, even says "also available on PC" in fine print at the bottom in the final seconds of the trailer.

Square Enix says that the game is "about 95%" complete.

In an interview with Famitsu (translated by IGN), Final Fantasy 16 director Hiroshi Takai says that the development of the upcoming RPG is going well. When asked about the current status of the game, Takai says that the team is "about 95%" done with development.

Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XVI (16) will be released summer 2023 for the PlayStation 5. The press release by Square Enix makes no mention of any other platform for this game.

The newest trailer shown off earlier this evening seems to focus on battles between Eikons (summons) and other giant foes such as other Eikons.

Another game has been delayed due to the pandemic.

Over the holiday weekend, Square Enix confirmed that thanks to the always and forever COVID-19 pandemic, development on Final Fantasy 16 has been delayed by "almost a half year." The next big reveal for the upcoming RPG won't happen until Spring 2022.
