A demo, clocking in at 20 minutes long, is out now for Like a Dragon: Ishin! on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. This demo will let you explore content across a couple different segments of the game. Players will face off against foes at Kiyomizu Temple and then go up against three armored, and slightly more challenging, warriors.
Should you choose to download and try out this demo ahead of Like a Dragon: Ishin!'s full release on February 21, you will get absolutely nothing when the full game releases. You will, however, get a little taste of what's to come. Now, if you subscribe to the SEGA newsletter, you will get access to two exclusive in-game weapons right at the game's release: The Bonechewer Katana and the Waterdrop Katana. Images of those weapons can be found below along with a few additional gameplay screenshots.
Like a Dragon: Ishin! has some pre-order bonuses by way of three exclusive weapons. Those that pick up the Digital Deluxe Edition will get to start playing Like a Dragon: Ishin! starting tomorrow, February 17! In addition pre-orders for the Digital Deluxe Edition also get the following items:
- Shinsengumi Captain’s Set
- Ryoma Growth Support Kit
- Sword Upgrade Materials Kit
- Gun Upgrade Materials Kit
- Third Division Armament Expansion Kit
- The Dragon of Dojima Skin
(I should mention I didn't care much for the Yakuza/Like A Dragon Series until your non-stop praises convinced me to check it out. And then I slapped myself for not getting it sooner.)
As for this one: I'm very much enjoying it so far even with some quirks. IE: The visuals are not as dense as the titles they have released on the Dragon Engine (Kiwami 2, Yakuza 6, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, & Judgment games). They're on UE4 now for the first time so maybe there's a bit of a learning curve? Not sure... It just feels like a step back visually in a lot of ways. Perhaps it also has to do with this being a PS3 title at heart and they didn't go quite as all out on this one? The camera also gets a little funky at times, zooming in and out rapidly like it's hitting geometry while moving. And, of course... slight stutter when a new shader shows up the first time, as is tradition with UE4 games.
Still, I can do this:
And this:
But not this. Never this:
