Square Enix announces that they are shutting down the servers for their mobile battle royale game, Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier. This title released back in November 2021 and will come to an unceremonious end on January 11, 2023.
Today's announcement came with word that Square Enix just wasn't "able to deliver the experience that (they) were hoping to." This is despite the game having received fairly regular updates and new content. The development team gave a timeline of when various aspects of the game will no longer function. You can see that timeline below.
Square Enix says that despite the game coming to an end in about three months, they still plan to deliver some updates to those still playing.
