Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier is now available for iOS and Android devices. This is a new battle royale title set in the same world as Final Fantasy VII. This release also coincides with the first season of the game, called "Rise of Shinra."
This entire game and lore surrounding it all takes place in the time period before the events of Final Fantasy VII. You will do battle against other players in Midgar to be the last SOLDIER standing. Players will get to explore familiar locations such as Seventh Heaven, Corneo's Mansion, the Honeybee Inn, and more.
Much like the games that spawned this spin-off, players will be able to choose various classes that utilize unique abilities. Players will also be able to utilize magic in addition to ranged and melee weapons.
- Warrior – This Style’s strength comes from close-ranged melee attacks.
- Sorcerer – Specializing in mid-ranged AoE attacks; this Style’s basic magic spells Fire, Blizzard and Thunder are powered up.
- Monk – A high-vitality Style which comes with self-healing and shield abilities.
- Ranger – Skilled in seeking out enemies and sniping them from afar.
- Ninja – Perfect for stealth and ambush attacks, this Style comes equipped with a double jump.
Players that login early will get special bonuses including: Chocobo Egg, Shinra Mas Skin, Shinra Bike Skin, Shinra Utility Vehicle Skin, and Shinra Helicopter Skin. Special early launch sale items (presumably for real-world money) include bundles based on: Cloud, Tifa, and Security Officer. These bundles contain skins and emotes.
The season pass can also be optionally purchased. This pass includes additional cosmetic unlocks including epic rewards like the Rufus skin from Final Fantasy VII Remake, Scorpion Sentinel, Unknown Entity, and more.
