If you have been playing Elden Ring, and chances are pretty good that you are given the massive sales figures for the game, you may have noticed something a little odd. Apparently, all of Elden Ring's main demigods and bosses have names that start with one of George R.R. Martin's initials.

Oh yeah, this is about to get into some spoiler territory here. So, if you haven't defeated every main boss yet or are thinking of picking up the game later on, it's best that you just stop reading right now. With that warning out of the way, it's time to continue on with this whole revelation.

It was first brought to the attention that George R.R. Martin is a huge nerd by PC Gamer. The author of A Song of Ice and Fire certainly hid little pieces of himself and his works here and there throughout Elden Ring, but there was one bit that kind of passed under the radar for a bit longer.

It turns out that all of the bosses, at least those that drop a Great Rune or a Remembrance when killed, all have a name that starts with G, R, or M. That is to say, all of the boss names begin with one of George R.R. Martin's initials.

There is Godfrey, Marika, Godwyn, Morgott, Mogh, Godrick, Rennala, Radagon, Radahn, Rykard, Ranni, Renna, Marika, Malenia, Miquella, and Maliketh. Yep, that all seems to check out.

While it's kind of a neat Easter egg, it does sometimes make things a little confusing when you're trying to follow the story with large groups of people having very similar names like that.

Anyway, Elden Ring is pretty good and you should play it. Hopefully the stream of Elden Ring related news slows to a trickle here shortly. I know that it can be a little annoying to see non-stop articles about a game you may not be interested in, but we have to strike while the iron is hot.
