Elden Ring is the best-selling game in the United States thus far in 2022. The latest data from the NPD say that FromSoftware's latest release is the second-best launch of the past 12 months, coming up just short of topping Call of Duty: Vanguard.

This means that Elden Ring had a better launch month than some of the other recent megahits like Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Horizon Forbidden West, and most other massive releases for 2021.

Elden Ring is also ranked as the fifth best-selling game for the past 12 months. This is even more impressive when you realize that Elden Ring has only been available on the market for about two weeks while other games that it has surpassed in sales have been available for upwards of 12 months.

The only market where Elden Ring didn't top the charts is on PlayStation. PlayStation owners seemed to prefer Horizon Forbidden West above Elden Ring. Besides that, Elden Ring topped the sales charts on PC via Steam and Xbox.

Elden Ring is also one of the best reviewed titles in the past several years. At OpenCritic, the average critic score is a staggering 96 with 99% of all reviewers recommending the game. As I said in our Elden Ring review, despite the technical issues with the game, Elden Ring is FromSoftware's best game to date and has quickly become one of my favorite games of all time. I'm now at over 100 hours of game time and this still holds true.
