As part of their regular weekly updates on the state of Destiny 2, Bungie announced today that the Forsaken campaign will be entering the Destiny Content Vault on February 22. It is at this point where the campaign along with the Tangled Shore location will leave the game for an undetermined amount of time.

This date also marks the start of Year 5 of Destiny 2, which also includes the launch of The Witch Queen expansion. Bungie notes that the removal of Forsaken will make room for other new features to be introduced into the game, including weapon crafting, the Throne World destination, Legendary difficulty campaign missions, a new weapon type, and more.

If you have not yet played through the Forsaken campaign, you may want to wait until December 7. On this date, Bungie will make the content and campaign available for free to all Destiny 2 players. Keep in mind that the base version of Destiny 2 is already free-to-play.

As a reminder, the Destiny Content Vault is Bungie's way of ensuring the game doesn't get too bloated. Losing content sucks, but it apparently helps Bungie out with maintaining the game and getting updates out in a more timely matter. The Vault allows Bungie to cycle content in and out of the game as needed.

Though Forsaken is being added to the Vault on February 22, some content will be returning from the Vault.

In addition to all that brand new content, we’re bringing a carefully curated selection of content out of the DCV, including a classic raid, two PVP maps from Destiny 2, and one classic PVP map from the original Destiny.
Bungie says they will be sharing more details on this returning content in the months ahead.
