PC, Mac, and Stadia players can now dive into the next chapter of The Elder Scrolls Online with today's release of Blackwood. This new expansion is said to offer up over 30 hours of new story content as players explore the new region of Blackwood. There will also be some "iconic locations" brought back that will be familiar to fans of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Those of you playing Elder Scrolls Online on the Xbox or PlayStation platforms will have to wait until June 8 for the expansion's release. Furthermore, those on next-gen consoles will be able to get The Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced on June 15.

Today's release kicks off a year-long "Gates of Oblivion" year-long storyline. The full list of changes in this release can be found here.

As part of our Gates of Oblivion year-long storyline, the Blackwood Chapter will task players with exposing the daedric plots and tyrannical schemes consuming the region. Discover the connection of these plots to the Prince of Destruction and his dreadful plans for Tamriel. Though Blackwood is a standalone story, its events further the overall Gates of Oblivion narrative that will conclude later in 2021.

Players can look forward to our all-new Companions System, designed so whether you play single-player or with friends, you’ll never have to adventure alone again. Unlocked via certain Blackwood main storyline quests, players can choose between two new Companions, whose playstyle you’ll define through selecting their gear and leveling up their skills. Each Companion has their own personality, likes, dislikes, and unique questlines. Oh, and be careful with your actions as the deeds you perform will influence rapport with your Companion.

Here’s a quick look at some of the exciting, new content coming to Blackwood:
  • New Companion System
  • New Zone: Blackwood
  • Rockgrove, a fresh 12-player Trial
  • Oblivion Portal World Events
  • Additional Delves, Public Dungeons, Quests, World Bosses and more…
Players can purchase the Blackwood Chapter through the ESO Store or platform store of their choice.
