Blizzard announced today that the official release date for World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic will be June 1 at 3PM (ET). Those of you who have an active subscription to World of Warcraft will have access to Burning Crusade Classic as no additional purchase is necessary here.

On May 18, the pre-patch for Burning Crusade Classic will be released. On this date, every player of Classic will have a choice to make. You will have to choose whether to advance to the Burning Crusade, move to a Classic Era realm, or use the Character Clone service to play in both games. More about this process can be found here.

Two new races will also be added. They are obviously the Draenei for the Alliance and the Blood Elves on the Horde side. The level cap will also be raised to 70 and flying mounts will be added.

Heroes who choose to cross the Dark Portal will find themselves in Hellfire Peninsula, an aptly named barren wasteland, where fel orcs and cruel demons roam free. The established outposts of Thrallmar (for the Horde) and Honor Hold (for the Alliance) are not able to deter this endless tide of darkness on their own. It is up to you to fight for this shattered world to rid it from evil. . . or watch its demonic denizens consume everything you hold dear.
