Reviews for Cyberpunk 2077 started to trickle in today starting around noon (ET). There really aren't too many reviews out there just yet since the PR company responsible for North American key distribution never actually got keys to give out! As of right now, only the most major of outlets in North America were given a review key. These are in addition to a number of outlets in Europe that worked directly with CD Projekt Red for keys.
So, if you are wondering where reviews are from outlets like ours, that is the reason why. It is unfortunate, but there really isn't anything we can do about it. However, we can share a look at the reviews that are live right now.
At the time of this posting, there are a total of 40 reviews out for Cyberpunk 2077. According to OpenCritic these reviews average out to 91% with 97% of critics recommending the game. Below are just a few outlets and their scores.
VG247 - 5/5
In the midst of such intense anticipation and scrutiny, it’s easy to get carried away with what Cyberpunk 2077 could have been. The final experience might be more familiar than many predicted, with plenty of elements that aren’t perfect, but it’s dripping with detail and engaging stories. With so much to see and do, Cyberpunk 2077 is the kind of RPG where you blink and hours go by, which is just what we need to finish off 2020.
Frankly, Cyberpunk 2077 is the best video game I've ever played.
Cyberpunk 2077 throws you into a beautiful, dense cityscape and offers a staggering amount of flexibility in how you choose to take it from there.
CD Projekt Red has created a triumphant RPG experience with Cyberpunk 2077, yet it often falters under the weight of its own ambition thanks to inconsistent writing and narrative.
Some nice characters and stories nested in an astounding open world, undercut by jarring bugs at every turn.
Cyberpunk 2077 has standout side quests and strong main characters, though its buggy, superficial world and lack of purpose bring it down.
Now that I’ve played it myself, I think that developer CD Projekt Red delivered a big-budget thrill ride with entertaining quests in a thriving setting.
But it isn’t much more than that.
