A "remake" of the original.
Dragami Games revealed Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP early this morning with a new launch date trailer. The studio says that this is a "remake" of the original 2012 title but it sure looks a lot more like a remaster in scope. Still, there are plenty of new features here that should make old and new fans pretty happy with the release.
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is looking to be released on September 25 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch. Those on more powerful hardware will get to play the game at 4K resolutions and 60FPS. Older hardware will run the game at 1080p and 30FPS. There will be shorter load times, an improved camera, faster attack speeds, and faster movement in general.
The Chainsaw Blaster now has an "auto rock on" auto-fire mode and increased maximum ammunition count. Combos are now also useable from the start of the game. The Nick Roulette feature and mini-games have also been improved for this release. An auto-QTE option is also being added for those that want to make use of it. There will also be a streamer mode option to help avoid DMCA issues.
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP features a new visual option that is aptly named RePOP mode. This mode offers a "distinct and colorful pop art style for damage effects." The original combat style can still be selectable for those that prefer that. There will be several new chainsaws added in this release. Collectibles have also been reorganized and categorized for easier browsing. There will be a new gallery function in Juliet's Room where you can view new illustrations, movies, chainsaws, hair colors, and more. Juliet will also have access to a total of 30 costumes, both old and new ones.
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is out September 26, 2024 and starts at $49.99 for all platforms. A physical release for the console versions is out in October.
