Only available to Miles Morales Ultimate Edition owners.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales

If you weren't already aware, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will have a special Ultimate Edition of the game available for the PlayStation 5. This Ultimate Edition of the game includes the Miles Morales game alongside a special release of Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered. However, as it currently stands, Sony says there is no plans to offer this special remaster as a standalone release for PS5 owners.

This means that the only way to get Spider-Man Remastered is to pay for the more expensive Ultimate Edition of Miles Morales. Even if you already own the PlayStation 4 release of Marvel's Spider-Man, you will still have to purchase the Ultimate Edition to get any sort of an upgrade. This also means that there is no upgrade path from the PS4 release to the PS5 release. There are no freebies, no shortcuts, and no soup for you.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition will retail for $69.99 (USD). That is the price you will need to pay for any access to Spider-Man Remastered on the PS5.

A statement from Sony was provided to IGN and reads as follows:

“Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered is an enhanced version of Marvel’s Spider-Man, and is included as part of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition for the PlayStation 5. In addition, players who purchase Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PlayStation 4 can upgrade* at no additional cost to the PS5 version of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and can take advantage of a paid-upgrade to download Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered.

There are no plans currently to offer Marvel's-Spider-Man: Remastered as a standalone. Players with a copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4 can purchase Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition to experience Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered on PS5. Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4 also will be backwards compatible on PS5.

*Owners of the Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales PS4 game disc can access this offer by inserting the disc into their PS5 console. PS4 game disc owners who buy the PS5 Digital Edition disc-free console will not be able to access this offer.”
This seems to point towards Spider-Man Remastered being treated, as IGN suggests, as an entirely new game. It will even have its own PlayStation Trophy list that is separate from the PlayStation 4 release. It will also feature new costumes, updated texture work, better facial animations, updated character models, more cars, more pedestrians, and support for the DualSense controller.

Saves will not carry over from the PlayStation 4 version of Spider-Man to the Remastered release.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be released on the PlayStation 5 launch date of November 12 in North America. Keep in mind that Miles Morales is also coming to the PlayStation 4 on the same date.
