Sony announced today that a new State of Play is coming as soon as this Thursday, August 6. However, if you are expecting to see any PlayStation 5 news, you will be left severely disappointed. Sid Shuman, the senior director of content communications at SIE, says that Thursday's show will focus on third-party titles coming to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR.

He does mention that there will be a "few" updates on PlayStation 5 titles coming from third-parties and indie devs. These updates will be for a few of the games seen during June's PS5 showcase. It was at that June event where we first got looks at games like Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, Marvel's Spider Man: Miles Morales, and plenty more. I doubt we'll be seeing any of those titles in this upcoming event though if what Sony is saying holds true.

The upcoming State of Play showcase will run for about 40 minutes and includes "plenty of new gameplay footage and other game updates."

Look for the event to begin at 1PM (PT; 4PM ET) on Thursday, August 6. You can watch on either Twitch or YouTube.

And just to be super clear — there will be no PlayStation Studios updates in Thursday’s episode. There won’t be any updates around hardware, business, preorders, or dates either. On Thursday, our focus is squarely on showcasing some cool upcoming games coming to the broader PlayStation ecosystem. Should be fun!
