Depending on when you read this, Halo 3 on PC will either be coming out shortly or will already be released. One week from today, on July 14th, Halo 3 will be added to Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC.
Today's announcement comes after a series of test flights for the game. These tests are essentially beta events that pull in data to ensure that the public launch of the game sucks as little butt as possible. It seems as though 343 Industries is satisfied with the data they acquired because they announced the PC release date on Twitter just earlier today.
Really, what more is there to say? It is Halo 3 and it's coming to the PC in a week. The fight will be finished... except not really because Halo 4 is still supposed to be coming to The Master Chief Collection on PC. Then there is also Halo 3: ODST that is still coming to The Master Chief Collection as well. At least so far as the original trilogy is concerned though, 343 will have indeed finished the fight.
And if you need a real blast from the past, the "Believe" ad campaign from Bungie and Microsoft for Halo 3 was, and still very much is, incredible.

Not looking to start an argument, i know fans feel very strongly about those adverts, but they would have landed better for me if Halo had a story.
Don't get me wrong, I couldn't care less about the overall story of the franchise, especially since it's gone off the rails as of late (so I hear). So I agree on that part. I think a lot of it also kind of falls flat when so much of the story is tied into non-gaming supplements like however many books there are. Never read any of them so I don't know how much of the "story" I'm missing or not.
I just liked the adverts for how well they're made. Same with the "Mad World" ad for Gears.
