DayZ

From Thursday, May 21 at 10AM (PT) through to Monday, May 25 at 10AM (PT), Steam users will get to dive into the world of DayZ. Bohemia Interactive announced a free weekend for the game that will allow you to not only play DayZ for free, but also pay a lot less on the title should you want to keep playing afterwards.

To participate in the weekend's festivities, simply head on over to the DayZ page on Steam and get to downloading once the free weekend officially begins. You can head on over to the store page now, but I don't believe the download is live yet.

As per usual with these free weekends, DayZ will be available at a very steep discount if you want to purchase the game. This will obviously allow you to keep playing DayZ after the free weekend comes to an end. The game will be offered at 40% discount from its regular price on Steam. In addition, the Livonia DLC will be sold at 20% off of its regular price.

Though the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game won't have a free weekend, they will still have the game available for sale. For the PlayStation 4, the sale on DayZ is included as part of their Extended Play Sale that ends on May 27th. For Xbox One owners, the sale began yesterday. DayZ is being offered at 40% off as part of Microsoft's "Deals with Gold" program. The Xbox sale ends on May 25th.

About DayZ
The post-soviet country of Chernarus is struck by an unknown virus, turning the majority population into frenzied infected. Fighting over resources has bred a hostile mentality among survivors, driving what’s left of humanity to collapse. You are one of the few immune to the virus - how far will you go to survive?

DayZ is an unforgiving, authentic, open world sandbox online game where each one of 60 players on a server follows a single goal – to survive as long as they can, by all means necessary. Every decision matters – with no save games, and no extra lives, every mistake can be lethal. If you die, you lose everything and start over
