Will deliver some scares on May 21st.
The Persistence

A new game that blends together survival horror with roguelike elements, The Persistence, was given a release date announcement today. The game, developed by Firesprite Games, offers players a chance to dive into a sci-fi horror experience. It is in development for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC and will be released on May 21, 2020.

If the game and the name sound familiar to some of you, there is good reason for it. It was a PlayStation VR game that released in 2018. From the looks of their 78% review average, the game seems to have been viewed quite favorably.

It's not particularly clear if the PC release will include VR support. There isn't anything officially mentioning VR support on the game's Steam page save for a tag that says "VR." Either way, there is also some doubt as to whether or not it will even support motion controls at launch, regardless of VR support.

The good news for current owners of the game on PSVR is that you will receive a feature update to bring parity to the new release at no extra charge. That's right, you'll get this new, flat screen experience and whatever new content there is for free.

Those that pre-purchase the game on the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch will get to enjoy a 10% discount off of the normal price of $29.99 (USD). Though it was not stated, I'm also assuming there will be a similar discount on the Steam version once it's available for purchase. Games tend to have launch week discounts like that, but they are not guaranteed.

A physical console release is planned but the team isn't sure when that will be released thanks to COVID-19. They hope it will hit retail shelves "as near as possible to the digital release."

The Persistence is a game set in the year 2521. You are tasked with surviving a doomed deep space colony starship that has been overrun with scary mutants. Your goal is to make your way through the ship that has randomly generated pathways and levels in an effort to bring the ship back to Earth.

We have a new trailer and screenshots that come from both the Switch version and non-Switch versions of the game. The 1080p images are from Switch while the 4K ones are the non-Switch ones. I'm guessing the 4K ones are from PC... maybe?
