The latest from Guerrilla's Hermen Hulst.
Horizon Zero Dawn

Horizon Zero Dawn is confirmed to be releasing on the PC this Summer. This confirmation of a very credible report from back in January 2020, comes today from Hermen Hulst. Hulst was the former managing director for Guerrilla and the current Head of Worldwide Studios. If anybody is in a position to confirm that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to the PC it would be him.

A few minor details were confirmed today in an interview between Hulst and Sid Shuman, the senior director of content communications at Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). The relevant part of the interview as it pertains to Horizon coming to PC can be seen below.

Speaking of experimentation, there have been rumors of a Horizon Zero Dawn complete edition that might be coming to PC… can you confirm or deny that?
HH: Yes, I can confirm that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC this summer…. There will be more information coming from Guerrilla, from the new studio directors [Michiel van der Leeuw, JB van Beek, and Angie Smets] pretty soon.

PlayStation is no stranger to publishing titles on the PC, but Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of the largest games to make that leap. Is there anything you would say to PlayStation fans? What does it mean for the future?

HH: Sure. I think it’s important that we stay open to new ideas of how to introduce more people to PlayStation, and show people maybe what they’ve been missing out on.

And to maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC. In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance. We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware.
What wasn't necessarily revealed in this interview was how Horizon Zero Dawn would appear on the PC platform. Would it be Steam and other digital storefronts? Would it be another Epic Games Store exclusive? Would Sony launch their own platform specifically for their games?

As it turns out, we didn't have to wait long for the answer. Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition will be released through Steam. The Steam Store page went live a short time after the interview went public between Hermen Hulst and Sid Shuman.

As this is the "Complete Edition" of the game, it stands to reason that it includes the full base game plus all of the additional content released.

  • Horizon Zero Dawn
  • The Frozen Wilds expansion
  • Carja Storm Ranger Outfit and Carja Mighty Bow
  • Carja Trader Pack
  • Banuk Trailblazer Outfit and Banuk Culling Bow
  • Banuk Traveller Pack
  • Nora Keeper Pack
So far we have no idea as to what the minimum PC requirements are for the game. I assume we'll get that information as the game gets nearer to its release in the Summer of 2020. Curiously, Horizon: Zero Dawn is listed as being published under the PlayStation Mobile branding. This studio has also brought over other games such as Helldivers, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, and Guns Up! to the PC via Steam.

The images that are available on the Steam Store Page for Horizon seem to be from the PlayStation 4 Pro version of the game.
