On February 14, Valentine's Day for you lovers out there, Darksiders Genesis will be released from Airship Syndicate and publisher THQ Nordic. The game will hit the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. If you have a PC or Google Stadia, Darksiders Genesis was already released a while back. Steam notes that the release date of the PC version was December 5, 2019.
Darksiders Genesis is the first time the series has been a top-down action title. All previous entries have been third-person, over the shoulder action-adventures. Though the perspective has changed, the familiar action is still very much intact.
Darksiders Genesis serves as a prequel to the events that began in the first Darksiders with War. In this one, you can play as both War and Strife. Switching between the two is as simple as a button press. War obviously specializes in melee based combat while Strife makes use of ranged weapons for his attacks. If you have a friend, you can bring in a partner for some co-op play. Co-op can be played both locally (couch co-op) or online.
Other series staples return in Darksiders Genesis. For instance, you will be able to hop on the Horsemen's trust steeds of Rampage and Mayhem. There are also ways to upgrade your skills, unlock new abilities, and purchase new gear.
Darksiders Genesis on consoles will retail for $39.99 (USD). A new launch trailer can be found below. Alongside that are some older screenshots, just in case you have not seen them yet.
