You knew this was coming.
Steam Winter Sale 2019

It's that time of year again. The snow is perhaps starting to fall. Santa is making the final checks on his sleigh. Rudolf is getting good and sloshed for his big night. And all around the world Christmas office parties are leading to situations that "nobody should ever speak of again."

It's also the time of the year where every digital storefront has a big holiday sale. Sales have kicked off today for both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The Steam 2019 Winter Sale is live from now through January 2, 2020 at 10AM (PT). This sale once again offers "massive savings" on thousands of games, expansions, DLC, and more. In addition to the items that are on sale, you can earn Festivity Tokens. These tokens are earned by purchasing games or by completing Holiday Quests.

These Festivity Tokens can be spent at the Holiday Market. The Holiday Market includes things like The Steam Winter Sale Coupon, new chat stickers, new Chat Room Effects, and more.

In addition, don't forget that the community voting is now live for The Steam Awards. Vote now and find out who the winners are on New Year's Eve.

Not to be completely outdone in every way imaginable under the Sun, the Epic Games Store is also going live with their own holiday sale today. This one is called simply the Holiday Sale 2019. If you don't feel like waiting for those timed exclusives to hit other, much better and more robust platforms, you can also see if it's on sale for low enough here to reach your breaking point.

During the sale at Epic Games Store, you will be able to pick up 12 free games. There will be one free game offered up every day for 12 days. It starts today with a free copy of Into the Breach, the latest from the studio behind FTL. The other free games have not yet been revealed. You'll need to check back every day to see what they're offering.

Epic is also giving everyone a bonus $10 off "Epic Coupon" to use during the sale. You can use this coupon on any item that is $14.99 (USD) or more during the promotion. If you use it on a game, you then get another $10 Epic Coupon. I'm not sure if this keeps going for each consecutive purchase made, but maybe. Apparently the coupon expires on May 1, 2020, so maybe you can use it on the next game Epic turns into a timed-exclusive.

If you do decide to purchase something from the Epic Games Store, feel free to use affiliate code "zips" at checkout. This gives me a tiny portion of the profits from each purchase made using that code. It's obviously not a whole hell of a lot that is earned, but it has helped already. Just last month there were some overage fees that were paid to keep the site alive as we went over monthly hosting budget.
