But then battle royale happened and it was made clear that the Save the World campaign took a backseat, perhaps understandably so. Save the World has been accessible only to those that payed to get into the game early but it was forever promised by Epic that once it was ready, Save the World would be free to everyone at release. That was supposed to have happened in 2018. As you may have noticed, 2018 is quickly coming to a merciful end and Save the World still isn't out yet.
That can only mean one thing: Save the World has been delayed until 2019. Epic Games made the announcement in their newest state-of-development blog.
That's a real bummer. However, Epic does note that they are offering a 50% off sale for the Standard, Deluxe, Super Deluxe, and Limited Founder's packs for their Save the World campaign. The Standard Edition starts at $39.99 (USD) with the Deluxe Edition going for $59.99. These packs allow you to begin playing the co-op mode right this very second. Otherwise, you can continue to wait until an unknown date in 2019 for Save the World to finally be released for free.
