The worst kept secret in recent gaming memory has finally been confirmed today. Yes, there is a remastered trilogy for the original three Spyro the Dragon games coming from Activision.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy has been in development at Toys for Bob for some time now and will be released on September 21 for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Though Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is coming to the PC later this year, it seems as though the PC community won't get any of the little purple dragon. I, for one, am outraged.

For $39.99 (USD), you will get visually overhauled versions of Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Pre-orders are now available through pretty much every major retailer. Those who have the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy can input ↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → square on the Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped title screen to watch the new Spyro Reignited trailer. For those who don't remember, this was the same code that unlocked the Spyro demo on the original release of Crash Bandicoot 3.

Alternatively, you can just watch the trailer below.

In addition to the upgraded visuals, Spyro Reignited Trilogy includes over 100 levels, better reward sequences, better environments, updated controls (analog support and better camera controls), all-new lighting, and recreated cinematics. Characters have been "re-imagined" for the remasters. Stewart Copeland's original soundtrack has also been re-imagined for this trilogy. The original voice of Spyro, Tom Kenny, reprises his role for Spyro Reignited Trilogy.
“We’re deeply passionate about staying true to the legacy of the original three Spyro games with the Spyro Reignited Trilogy,” said Paul Yan, Chief Creative Officer at Toys For Bob. “We’ve poured a lot of love into making the personalities and worlds feel just like fans remember them, while also keeping the game collection surprisingly fresh with lush, high definition detail. We’re bringing back the Spyro we all fell in love with 20 years ago.”
