Rebellion and developer Big Boat Interactive just released a new RTS/FPS hybrid game Battlezone: Combat Commander today through both Steam and GOG.com.

Now, I'm calling it a "new" game but in reality it's actually a remaster of the classic Battlezone 2, which came out back in 1999 from Pandemic Studios. Oh Pandemic, I miss you dearly. This remaster includes some 4K resolution support, DirectX 11 shading and rendering, high resolution textures, and more. Perhaps best of all is the cross-play online support between Steam and GOG versions, new achievements, cloud saves, and support for mods via the Steam Workshop.
Players can once again take command of incredible sci-fi battalions on the surfaces of distant planets, all from the cockpit of their hover-tanks. Fusing real-time strategy with thrilling first-person tank warfare, BattlezoneĀ®: Combat Commander is in a class of its own.

Featuring updated artwork and visual effects, DirectX 11 rendering and shading, retextured and upscaled terrain, and 4K resolution support, BattlezoneĀ®: Combat Commander is a true visual remaster. The game also features cross-play online multiplayer across Steam and GOG, new achievements, cloud saves*, and support for its two-decade old modding community including Steam Workshop, on top of many refinements and tweaks.

The game retails for $19.99 (USD), but can be yours for 10% off for a limited time.
