• The Surge 2 Announced for 2019

At this year's Le What's Next de Focus, Focus Home Interactive and Deck13 announced The Surge 2. The first game, released back in May 2017, seemed to do quite well for itself. Well enough at least to warrant a sequel. The sequel looks to bring more action and limb dismemberment to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019. Yep, it's at least a year away from release right now.
The Surge 2 keeps what fans and critics loved about the original – hardcore combat utilizing a unique, dynamic, limb-targeting system and deep character progression – while also expanding greatly upon the formula. The Surge 2 takes place in a brand new environment: a sprawling, devastated city with larger and more ambitious level design, made possible by Deck13’s upgraded and improved engine. Combat is more brutal and tactical than ever, with even more options thanks to an expanded limb targeting system. In addition, more abilities, weapons, implants, and drones give players a vast arsenal to build their character with, in their fight against the array of diverse new enemies and bosses.

A new environment? An upgraded engine? Nice. I was a big fan of the The Surge, so I'm already rather excited for the next one to come along.

Deck13 is talking to the press this week at Le What's Next de Focus, so we might get some additional information soon. Below, I've included a version of the above image without the logo if anybody wanted it.

Review: The Surge 2 (PC)
by Shawn Zipay
Better than the original in almost every way.

A weird thing happens when you have just a weekend to play a game and write a review for said game. I literally got my code Friday morning but could not begin until late Friday night. Sometimes that game ends up being longer than you anticipated. Sometimes that time that you could spend playing the game is spent instead with a weird thing called "life." And while "life" does have a tremendous framerate, it doesn't help...

Reborn from the Fallen
There is a very interesting thing happening with reviews for Deck13's new action-RPG The Surge. It's something I saw before and something I myself am guilty of, especially when it comes to Deck13's previous release, Lords of the Fallen. That "interesting thing" I have noticed is a move to compare each and every aspect of The Surge to the Dark Souls games. That alone is fine but the thing I cannot stand is the fact that some are actually upset, even borderline...
