And now Dying Light is getting in on the hot battle royale genre with Dying Light: Bad Blood. This is an "all-new multiplayer expansion that combines Dying Light's intense zombie survival gameplay with PvP action."
Dying Light: Bad Blood thrusts seven players in the infested city of Harran with the goal of collecting biosamples from the infected. Players can cooperate to overcome the city’s undead threats or betray each other to reap the biggest rewards.

If you haven't already clicked on the link above, PC players can sign up right now for an upcoming closed beta of Bad Blood. The beta test will take place on Steam later this month with the full release coming in the first quarter of 2018.

I was really excited the first time I saw Dying light "Battle Royale" until the point that when they explain the game mode, its everything but Battle Royale. If they are calling it a "Battle Royale" its just marketing to ride the trendy wave, because the game mode itself is nothing like one.
The objective is to do some missions, like gathering samples, and then escape/evacuate, with only 6 players. More than 1 player can end the game and there are no set alliances
How in the hell is battle royale? Thats just some sort of pvp escort mission, kind of like playing the division dark zone.

I honestly just wish there was a Day Z / survival but in Dying light, now that would be the most awesome survival game ever!

I'm not sure this counts as being inspired by Battle Royale, it's more like Fragile Alliance from Kane & Lynch.

FWIW, the "Battle Royale" moniker was their wording, not mine.

The start of the press release:
We’d like to share with you the first details for Dying Light: Bad Blood, an all-new multiplayer expansion that combines Dying Light’s intense zombie survival gameplay with PvP action inspired by the ever-popular competitive Battle Royale genre.
      This from a supplementary release:
December 7th, 2017 - Wroclaw, Poland / As a response to numerous fan requests for a Player-vs-Player approach to Dying Light, and the recent popularity of the battle royale genre among the survival horror fans, today Techland unveiled its new standalone expansion - Dying Light: Bad Blood. While retaining the core of what made people fall in love with Dying Light in the first place, Bad Blood will offer violent and dynamic online matches that blend PvP and PvE styles of gameplay.

“Our aim is both to satisfy players’ demands for competitive PvP gameplay and to explore new directions for Dying Light’s multiplayer experience,” said Tymon Smektala, Producer at Techland. “Since Bad Blood was inspired by fan requests, we want player feedback to be an integral part of our development. That's why we’re inviting Dying Light fans to take part in our Global Playtest. They can play the expansion early and share their thoughts, knowing their feedback will have a major influence on Bad Blood's development.”

I am aware of that! I wasn't putting it on you. All other news I read related to this said the same thing about it being a battle royale, I was just annoyed because the gamemode itself is barely related with battle royale. Even survival games are much more similar to a battle royale than what they describe.
Nontheless I'm interested in trying out the gamemode, even though its premise could be so much better.
