• This Week in Review: Superhot (February 21 - 27, 2016)

I'm going to level with you all. Outside of Superhot, I haven't really had much time to play anything else "new" this week. And well, I already have a fairly lengthy review up for Superhot. Maybe you've seen it?

What else was there? Well, I started to play Until Dawn on the PlayStation 4. It's not really a new release though, but I am enjoying it. I have seen it played through a few times and I still wanted to purchase it. Fortunately, Sony had a sale on the game and I was able to get it through PSN for about $24. Maybe I'll have a bit more to say about it in the next week or two.

I've also started to play Stardew Valley. It's apparently a lot like Harvest Moon. I've never played Harvest Moon. However, this game is really enjoyable. You grow a farm, you go mining, you go fishing, you make money, you buy upgrades, you build a barn, you raise cows, you raise chickens, you get a beehive, and oh my God it's just super relaxing and enjoyable.

I sat down to play a bit earlier tonight and ended up playing a couple of hours in what felt like a blink of an eye. I'm even more impressed with this game because it was made by just one person, Eric Barone (aka: ConcernedApe), and he has been really on the ball with important bug fixes ever since the game's release. Even better is the fact that it's not an Early Access release. It's out there, it's public, and you can pick it up and play it right now for $15 (USD) through Steam.

It's kind of crazy to think that he's going to eventually add in four-player co-op into the game.

That's kind of it for this week. Next week might have some things about Far Cry Primal if I actually feel like playing that and possibly Black Desert Online if I manage to snag a review copy.

Starfield Review Averages Sit at Upper 80s
by Shawn Zipay
See what critics are saying about the most anticipated game of 2023.

The first major wave of reviews are in for Starfield and, well, they aren't bad. They're not super great either but they certainly aren't bad.

According to OpenCritic, Starfield currently sits at an average review score of 87% with 93% of all reviewers recommending the game. The scores for this one seem to range from as low as 50% to as high as 100% (or 10 out of 10 to be more specific).

Critical Consensus: Alone in the Dark
by Shawn Zipay
Fails to live up to others in the genre this franchise helped to create.

The Alone in the Dark reboot was just released today and it seems like the reviews have placed it firmly in the realm of being merely ok but with some serious shortcomings. This release from Pieces Interactive and THQ Nordic currently sits at a 62% critical average on OpenCritic, with only 42% of reviewers recommending this new release.

Interestingly, the actual scores for this game range everywhere...
