    Gearbox Software announces that they have opened a new game studio in Quebec.
    Gearbox Studio Quebec is now hiring game developers to join the Quebec City studio for its inaugural title growing to full AAA production capability through 2016.

    “We are fortunate that there is a lot of demand on us to deliver our brand of interactive entertainment within the powerful franchises we have at Gearbox Software and the challenge for us is growing to meet this demand,” said Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software. “As part of our strategy we have already successfully built an expanded all-new headquarters in Frisco, Texas. We now look ahead to another key and exciting step which is our commitment towards our all-new Gearbox Studio Quebec where we strive to team up with some incredible talent in the world of video game development outside of Texas to help us build fun and exciting video games within our tent-pole brands.”

    Gearbox Software has been headquartered in Texas for over 16 years and partnered with companies around the globe. This is the very first Gearbox Software Studio created which is a testament to the confidence in the partnership.

    The studio will be led by Sebastien Caisse and Pierre-Andre Dery.
    Sebastien Caisse, Ph.D., will act as Co-Studio Head and Director of Operations. Sebastien has acted as business development director at Quebecor Media as well as business development manager and writer at Squeeze Animation. In those positions, he has worked with Sony, Microsoft, and CBS among others.

    Pierre-Andre Dery will be Co-Studio Head and Studio Creative Director. Previously Art Director at Activision, where he worked on Skylanders and The Amazing Spider-Man, he has also worked on the visual development of more than 30 console titles at Volta, notably contributing to Farcry, Deus Ex and World of Warcraft.

      Buckle up, everyone, because this is going to be a real doozy of a news post.

      There are two lawsuits recently filed between Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford and the former general counsel for Gearbox. They're both suing each other, both claiming the other were in violation of their legal responsibilities to the company. The lawsuit against Pitchford from the former Gearbox lawyer Wade Callender says that Pitchford received a secret $12 million bonus from Take-Two Interactive.

      Callender's lawsuit, filed December 21, 2018, also says that Pitchford is in violation of some contracts that involve Gearbox and a "separate real estate company" that both of them owned. Gearbox says that these accusations are "absurd" in a brief statement released today by a Gearbox spokesperson. ...

      On Tuesday, former Gearbox lawyer, Wade Callender, filed a motion in Dallas County district court for contempt and has requested sanctions against Gearbox. The filing allegs "discovery abuse" and a failure to produce various court-ordered documents. This is the latest is a very long back-and-forth legal battle between Callender and Gearbox that started back in late 2018.

      Back in the far off time of 2021, Embracer Group purchased Gearbox Entertainment for $1.3 billion. On March 28, 2024, Embracer Group announced that they have sold off Gearbox Entertainment to Take-Two Interactive for $460 million.
