• Former Activision Developers Announce New Studio and New Game - Icon: Disc Jam

Icon: Disc Jam is the newly announced title from former "AAA developers" that have worked on franchises such as Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, and Tony Hawk. The studio, High Horse Entertainment, is making Icon: Disc Jam on Unreal Engine 4.

It essentially appears to be a modern take on Windjammers and this makes me quite happy.
Description
A fast-paced action-sports game that pits 2-4 players against each other in a unique combination of air hockey and tennis. Players scramble to retrieve and throw a glowing disc while unleashing devastating abilities and defending variable-point end zones. An exciting blend of strategy and skill, this arcade-inspired title boasts a zany roster of characters to compete with friends both on the couch and online.

Features
Fast-paced arcade-inspired gameplay
Proprietary netcode designed to deliver fluid and responsive gameplay online
Support for splitscreen and couch play
A zany roster of characters, each with different styles and abilities
Invite your friends to a party and play against other teams online

The game is expected to be out on PC in early 2016. They plan on having a playable demo shown off for the first time ever at the Unreal Engine booth at IndieCade, which runs from October 22-25. You can hope for alpha access to the game by heading on over to the Icon: Disc Jam website. Alternatively, they do have a Steam Greenlight campaign underway.

Did you ever play a version of Flying Power Disc where you had B. Yoo of Korea instead of S. Miller of Britain? Even their special move callouts are completely different (same sprite and animations though). B. Yoo calls out Torpedo while S. Miller says uh... Super Sonic Slash I think?
