Nvidia announced the GeForce GTX Titan X today, a new 12GB graphics card. The reveal happened during Epic's keynote this morning where Tim Sweeney, Weta Digital, Oculus, and others in the industry were showing off a demo of a new VR experience called Thief in the Shadows.
Details were sparse about the GPU's capabilities. The only things that were really revealed by Nvidia's Jen-Hsun, were that the card has eight billion transistors and a 12GB framebuffer. The Titan X was used to power the Thief in the Shadows VR demo. The demo itself was created by Weta, the same team behind some of the visual effects in The Hobbit films and many others. The Titan X ran the demo on the Crescent Bay Oculus Rift without issue at 90fps.
Nvidia will reveal more about the Titan X in two weeks during their GPU Technology Conference.
