The local online multiplayer game, TowerFall: Ascension, will soon have a somewhat familiar face as one of the character models. Yes, Matt Makes Games is adding game critic and Feminist Frequency creator Anita Sarkeesian into the game.

Sarkeesian will be just one of 10 new archers coming in the Dark World expansion. Matt Thorson, the game's developer, said that one of the Blue archers is "loosely based on (...) Anita Sarkeesian."

If you keep up on gaming news she may seem familiar - her appearance is loosely based on feminist games critic Anita Sarkeesian. Anita’s work has been an inspiration to the TowerFall team. Her “Tropes vs Women in Games” video series gave us a valuable new lens through which to assess our character designs. TowerFall is about bringing people together, so it’s vitally important that the cast of playable characters makes everyone feel invited to join in. Simply put, this wouldn’t have occurred to me if not for Anita, and feedback from players has reinforced how important it really is. We’re very excited to immortalize Anita in a small way, as the alternate Last of the Order.

If Sarkeesian isn't someone you wish to play as, there are other options. A Green archer named Vigilante Mask is said to be a protege of the original Green Archer. There's the Assassin Prince that wears Pink. Perhaps instead you'd rather be the Loyal Kingsguard that plays for Orange and may resemble Alucard from Castlevania.

The Dark World expansion will also include new stages, power-ups, game variants, game modes, and more in addition to the new characters. The expansion is slated to arrive this year.
