Recently, some leaked images surfaced for a very early build of Just Cause 3. The images showed off some very early gameplay but also something else very important to fans: Microtransactions. Naturally, the Internet freaked out. Avalanche went on record to say that there's nothing to worry about and that there would be more revealed soon.

That "soon" is now as Just Cause 3 has been officially announced. Avalanche Studios' Co-founder and CCO, Christofer Sundberg took to the company's site to put some minds at ease. There will not be microtransactions in Just Cause 3.
Following last week's rumours and speculation, we also wanted to take the opportunity to address a few misconceptions. Those leaked screenshots were taken from an ancient version of Just Cause 3. Like most games, this one went through an exploratory phase where we looked at different control schemes, different technologies, different business models. Those leaked screenshots show aspects of that process, and in no way reflect the game we are making today.

To be perfectly clear: Just Cause 3 will be available in 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. It will be distributed as a retail box and digital download. It is not a Free To Play game. It does not feature in-game micro transactions.

He does note that after launch they are "likely to look into DLC packs and items." That would be similar to what they ended up doing with Just Cause 2. If you want even more information on Just Cause 3, you will be able to find it throughout the month as part of Game Informer's December coverage.
