    Bungie is Latest Studio to Be Hit with Layoffs

    The Destiny developer joins the ever growing list of studios impacted by layoffs this year.

    Bungie, the studio known for creating the Halo franchise and Destiny, has just been impacted by layoffs. Bungie is the latest studio to undergo downsizing or "restructuring" in 2023, joining dozens of other game studios that have done the same.

    Bloomberg's Jason Schreier noted on Twitter that employees at the PlayStation Studios owned Bungie were informed of the layoffs...

    Layoffs Hit Sega and Certain Affinity

    Relic Entertainment also sold off.

    We are still at the point with games industry layoffs where we have multiple different announcements coming in the same day. Today, we have learned that Sega made layoffs at Sega Europe, Creative Assembly, and Hardlight. All told, there were approximately 240 employees laid off from these three studios, with only a "small number" of layoffs hitting Hardlight.

    Mass Layoffs Hit Twitch and Gamur Group

    The Twitch layoffs are just a part of the more than 9,000 positions eliminated from Amazon today.

    On Monday, Amazon announced plans to cut another 9,000 positions from areas including Amazon Web Services (AWS), human resources, advertising, and Twitch. The additional 9,000 layoffs are planned to be completed by the end of April and follow the 18,000 people that have already been laid off from Amazon from December 2022 through January 2023.
