  • Sony Doesn't Feel EA Access Provides a "Good Value to the PlayStation Gamer"

"Why is EA Access only on the Xbox platform," seems to be the question of the week for many gamers. If nothing else, surely it would also be on the PlayStation platform as well, right?

Unfortunately, Sony feels as though EA's subscription based service doesn't add a "good value" for PlayStation gamers out there. A Sony representative provided the following statement to Game Informer.
"We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect. PlayStation Plus memberships are up more than 200% since the launch of PlayStation 4, which shows that gamers are looking for memberships that offer a multitude of services, across various devices, for one low price. We don’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer."

Keep in mind that EA Access is $5 per month or $30 per year to gain unlimited access to a number of EA titles, plus early trial access to upcoming titles. Many have actually found this to be a really good deal.

Right now, Sony is already facing criticisms for their pricing structure on PlayStation Now, where no subscription plan is offered at all. Most fans have asked, begged, and pleaded with Sony to add subscription plans for PlayStation Now but so far nothing has come of it. All PlayStation Now titles are priced individually and are offered up at various lengths of time for often insane prices.
