Xbox's Phil Spencer Addresses Recent Leaks

Oh, you thought we were done with this? Ha.

Microsoft had a major spotlight shown on them today after several court documents made their way online via a little whoopsie by Microsoft themselves. We had the mid-gen Series X|S refresh info, Bethesda's release schedule, next-gen Xbox, and even word that Phil Spencer wanted to buy Nintendo and other studios.

There were even some leaks we didn't share with you today. Leaks like how Microsoft was (or is) planning a mouse and...

The Elder Scrolls 6 Coming 2026 at Earliest but Not to PlayStation

The reveal comes from Microsoft themselves.

The Elder Scrolls 6 won't be coming any time soon, according to Microsoft's own documents. Not only the next Elder Scrolls title still several years away, it looks like it won't be headed to the PlayStation 5 (or whatever PlayStation is out at the time of release).

These new details come from Microsoft's own documents that were filed as part of the legal battle between the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Microsoft concerning...

A new Xbox Wire blog post from CVP of Xbox player services Dave McCarthy details this new system. McCarthy says that players that are found to violate the Xbox community standards will receive a strike. These strikes will remain on your record for six months. If you manage to receive a total of eight strikes, their account will...

Microsoft Admits Xbox Lost the Console Wars

Xbox is well behind the competition from Sony and Nintendo.

Microsoft has flat-out admitted that they have long lost the console wars. This remarkable but unsurprising admission came in its proposed findings of fact that Microsoft submitted on the first day of its court battle with the FTC. Special thanks to IGN for sharing this information.

This week's court battle came after the FTC filed a preliminary injunction to halt Microsoft's $69 billion acquisition of Activision...

Bloomberg Reports on What Led to Redfall's Downfall

Development so troubled that developers hoped it would just get cancelled.

It may come as no surprise to you to hear that the development of Redfall from Arkane Austin was plagued with issues at all levels. This includes a lack of oversight from Xbox management, staffing issues, and an ever changing design basis for the game itself. When Redfall launched last month, it was met with plenty of poor review scores from critics and players. It was filled with a myriad of technical bugs,...

European Commission Approves Xbox Acquisition of Activision Blizzard

This approval "represents a significant improvement for cloud gaming."

Hot on the heels of the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) blocking the merger between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard comes the approval of the merger from the European Commission (EC). This approval brings Microsoft's $70 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard that much closer to being completed.

Interestingly, the European Commission had very similar conclusions and concerns...

Microsoft Agrees to 10-Year Xbox Game Commitment with Nintendo and Nvidia

The deal will bring some titles to Nintendo platforms and Nvidia's streaming services.

Microsoft has agreed to a 10-year deal that will bring Xbox titles to Nvidia's cloud streaming services and to Nintendo platforms. This is being done in an effort to appease antitrust regulators that still feel as though Microsoft's $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard would lead to anti-competitive behavior or even a monopoly.

In the deal with Nvidia, games like Minecraft...

Report: Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo to Skip E3 2023

E3's big return sounds like it's more of a dud.

In September 2022, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced that E3 was returning. Not only was it returning, but it would be the show's first in-person event in four years.

Now, we're learning that none of the three major console makers will have any sort of presence at the trade show. Sony and Nintendo not having a presence probably isn't too surprising. Those two companies had already started to do their...

Employees across several Microsoft owned studios were just let go from the company.

Microsoft announced plans to layoff 10,000 employees, a decision that CEO Satya Nadella calls "difficult but necessary." A statement issued to employees, made public by Microsoft, does not go into detail just how many departments are being impacted. However, we do know that the Xbox division at Microsoft did not come away unscathed.

Several studios under Xbox were impacted by...
