  • Randy Pitchford Paid $25,000 for Penn Jillette's Ponytail

Yes, Randy Pitchford from Gearbox has paid $25,000 for the pleasure of owning Penn Jillette's ponytail. Alright, so there's a bit more to it than that, but the rest doesn't make for an interesting headline.

Pitchford actually paid $25,000 to help crowdfund Penn Jillette's horror movie. His contribution qualifies him for an Executive Producer credit on the film and the "Big Spending Whales Get Our Ponytails" reward tier on the crowdfunding page.
"A lot of guys in my seat spend the money they make on Italian sports cars or big houses, and I think that's great if that drives the will to make things happen, but I seem to want to keep putting my extra scratch back into creative efforts.

"Every game we've shipped this generation has seen significant investment of Gearbox money beyond what our publishing partners have put in - for better or worse - but I can still afford to throw a little bit around here and there on things and people I think are cool and feel good about doing it. I didn't buy a new car or new house or anything like that, really, with the money I've made on Borderlands 2."

So, what happens to the ponytail itself?
"It's not about the pony tail and I haven't thought about what to do with it. But I'll chat with him about it and I'm sure between us we can come up with something clever that will amuse everyone who happens to be watching. Or maybe it just goes in a box. Or maybe it stays on his head."

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford Accused of Contempt in New Court Filing
      by Shawn Zipay
"All (the Internet) care about is if my next video game is good or not."

On Tuesday, former Gearbox lawyer, Wade Callender, filed a motion in Dallas County district court for contempt and has requested sanctions against Gearbox. The filing allegs "discovery abuse" and a failure to produce various court-ordered documents. This is the latest is a very long back-and-forth legal battle between Callender and Gearbox that started back in late 2018.

      In November...

David Eddings Details Abuse from Randy Pitchford

Accusations include a wet-willy and aggressive shoving.

One week ago, the dispute between Gearbox's Randy Pitchford and former Gearbox employee David Eddings went public in a hurry. It seemed as though this was largely over a pay dispute between the two parties but, as with most things involving Randy Pitchford, there's a bit more to it than that.

Eddings has claimed, on more than one occasion now, that Randy Pitchford physically assaulted him. These allegations really...

Former Gearbox Lawyer Claims CEO Randy Pitchford Took Secret $12 Million Bonus in Lawsuit Gearbox Claims is 'Absurd'
      by Shawn Zipay

Buckle up, everyone, because this is going to be a real doozy of a news post.

There are two lawsuits recently filed between Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford and the former general counsel for Gearbox. They're both suing each other, both claiming the other were in violation of their legal responsibilities to the company. The lawsuit against Pitchford from the former Gearbox lawyer Wade Callender says that Pitchford received a secret $12 million bonus from Take-Two Interactive.

Callender's lawsuit, filed December 21, 2018, also says that Pitchford is in violation of some contracts that involve Gearbox and a "separate real estate company" that both of them owned. Gearbox says that these accusations are "absurd" in a brief statement released today by a Gearbox spokesperson. ...
