• Valve Releases Pre-Release Security Update for Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

Holy crap, Valve just released a pre-release update for Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. Remember those games? I'm surprised Valve did but here we are with a new pre-release patch having just come out for players and server admins to test out.
We've made a Prerelease update available for Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and their dedicated server components. The update notes are below.

Please give this branch a test and let us know if you encounter any issues. Prerelease branches can be accessed in Steam via the Properties -> Betas tab. Dedicated servers can pass -beta prerelease to the app_update command in SteamCMD. If all goes well, this branch will be promoted to the current release in the coming week.

Changelog for CS:Source, DoD:Source, and HL2DM
- Sync'd engine and base game code with the latest Orangebox code
- Fixed several recent security issues

Man, I feel super nostalgic writing up a news post for these games again! Having just looked, I may or may not have made a very similar joke when the last Day of Defeat: Source update was released (in 2013).

Yep, I remember. I still prefer CS:S to GO and play it every now and then. I wish DoD didn't fall off the map for me. The original was a lot of fun and I tried to get into it with DoD:S but I never played it as much. Good to know that Valve still remembers these game heh

What I really want Valve to remember is the Half Life series and make another freakin' game for it.
