Massive Steam Leak Spoils Story and Achievements for Dozens of Games, Some of Which are Not Even Announced

More broadly, Microsoft is cutting 4,800 jobs.

Today, Microsoft is laying off 2.1% of its workforce. This equates to 4,800 people that are being let go. The company's XBOX division is cutting about 20% of its entire workforce. All of this is being done in an effort to cut costs due to rising prices and expenses brought about by artificial intelligence (AI).

PlayStation is Killing Physical Game Discs

Digital only after January 2028.

Starting January 2028, Sony will no longer produce physical discs for new PlayStation game releases. All games released in January 2028 and after will be available only through digital stores such as the PlayStation Store.

Sony attempts to justify this move by claiming it's a "natural direction" in order to "adapt to consumer trends as the general preference for digital media significantly outpaces physical discs."...

Kaspersky Warns of Malware Spread Through Wallpaper Engine on Steam

Anime continues to be a danger to everyone.

The cybersecurity company Kaspersky has issued a warning about malware being spread through Steam Workshop files for Wallpaper Engine. Malware, hidden through user uploaded wallpaper packages, can lead to issues such as hijacked Steam accounts, the installation of backdoors to a user's PC, or even hidden crypto mining processes.

    Grand Theft Auto 6 Hacker Sentenced to an 'Indefinite Hospital Order'

    The hacker used an Amazon Firestick, hotel TV, and a mobile phone to steal the data.

    One of the hackers that accessed Rockstar Games servers, stole data related to Grand Theft Auto 6, and subsequently leaked the stolen data online has been sentenced to an indefinite hospital order.     The game will have been active for just 45 days when the servers go down.

    Insomniac Games Shares Message Following Massive Hack

    The studio says that they are "resilient."

    Earlier in the week, over 1.6TB of stolen data from Insomniac Games was published online. Ransomware group, Rhysida, claimed responsibility and demanded 50 BTC for the stolen data, else they would release the data publicly.     The update is out now for PC.

    Konami has released the 1.4.0 update for just the PC version of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1. This update unfortunately won't be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch until some time in January 2024.

    It's perhaps for the best that the PC version got this update sooner rather than later. The PC release of the Master Collection was perhaps a tad bit worse off than the console versions....
