According to their Q3 2023 earnings report, Unity saw revenues increase 69% year-over-year to $544 million (USD). Unity also reported net losses were cut in half year-over-year from $250 million in 2022 to $125 million now. In spite of this, Unity also says that they plan to reduce their workforce and office footprint.

These changes, and more, came about after a "comprehensive assessment of its product portfolio." They continue, "The assessment will likely lead us to decide to discontinue certain offerings, reduce our workforce, and reduce our office footprint." These changes are expected to be carried out in the company's fourth quarter for 2023. As such, the company did not provide any guidance for Q4 2023.

Unity CEO James Whitehurst claims that Unity was "doing too much." These changes are being done to turn Unity into a "leaner, more agile, and faster growing company." He continues on to say that Unity will increase their focus on areas such as the Unity Editor and Runtime. They are also continuing to look into expanding Monetization Solutions as they "continue to see significant opportunities for growth in these businesses, including AI."

The number of employees expected to be laid off from Unity were not yet shared by the company.
