DICE has officially cancelled its previously announced 5v5 competitive mode for Battlefield V. The company says that they made this decision after turning their attention more to "improving the quality of the experience and adding more of the content you want." Despite neither of these two things happening in quite some time, the decision has been made and those looking for a small-scale war are left looking elsewhere....

More broadly, Microsoft is cutting 4,800 jobs.
Today, Microsoft is laying off 2.1% of its workforce. This equates to 4,800 people that are being let go. The company's XBOX division is cutting about 20% of its entire workforce. Lord of Hatred Review: Diablo 4 Finally Finds Its Final Form
This is Diablo 4 at its best. I mean it this time. For real.
Returning to the world of Sanctuary for this latest chapter feels like a true homecoming for those of us who have spent hundreds of hours traversing its dark and unforgiving landscapes since the base game launched back in 2023. The release of the Lord of Hatred expansion marks a significant step forward in the narrative that was originally set in motion during the initial campaign and furthered by the events of the Vesse...

DICE Cancels Competitive Mode for Battlefield V
A 5v5 competitive game mode never quite got off the ground.
DICE has officially cancelled its previously announced 5v5 competitive mode for Battlefield V. Battlefield V Patch 4.2.2 Coming Tonight - More Crash Issues Fixed
Update starts rolling out at 1AM.
DICE just released the details for the forthcoming 4.2.2 update coming tonight to Battlefield V. This update will be for all platforms. On the PC it will weigh in at about 800MB and on the Xbox One it will be roughly 50MB. Those on the PlayStation 4 will apparently just have to roll the dice on how big their update will be.
As of right now, the update will begin rolling out at 1AM (PT) beginning with the PC. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One... -

The Shortlist that is the Battlefield V Update 4.2 Patch Notes
Ouch.
DICE finally revealed the patch notes for Update 4.2, which is slated to hit Battlefield V tomorrow (Thursday, July 25) starting at 1AM (PT) with the PC update. PS4 and XB1 updates will follow at 2AM and 3AM respectively. On the plus side, they say that they have fixes that target "extreme instances of invisible soldiers." On the other hand, the total number of changes can be counted on just two hands.
For a fairly major update, this seems to be rather... -

DICE Pushes Back Battlefield V Marita Map to Next Week
Two updates coming over the next week.
DICE again took to Reddit to explain just what is going on with Battlefield V. Well, they didn't get into too many details, but they did share some bits of information that we should probably know about.
First up, DICE is planning to release the 4.2 update this Thursday. This update will be for both clients and servers. However, no actual changelog has been shared yet. Maybe it'll include the fix for the invisible soldiers that has... -

Battlefield V Chapter 4 Hotfix 1.1 Update Addresses Poor Hit Registration
Invisibility bug still remains.
DICE will release a hotfix patch for Battlefield V Chapter 4 tomorrow. This comes roughly a week after a fairly disastrous update introduced a number of game breaking bugs to the game.
While this update may not fix all of the top issues introduced in that last patch, it does tackle a few of them. It must be stated that today's update does not address the issue of invisible character models. This issue, introduced in the last update, is still... -

Game Breaking Battlefield V Bugs Still Not Fixed
No solid ETA on when they will be either.
If you have played Battlefield V from the beginning, you will probably agree that the game is fun but it's not without its flaws. In fact, it seems as though with every patch released for the game, there are almost as many new bugs added as there are ones that are squished in each patch.
The latest patch released for the game, which came about just last week, is no exception to that rule. First off, the beginning of Chapter 4 for... -

Outpost Mode Now Live as Latest Weekly Battlefield V Mode
This mode places a larger emphasis on teamwork and building, not murder.
DICE released the latest weekly game mode for Battlefield V earlier today. It's called Outpost and it will be live from today through to next week. It is a 64-player game type playable on Arras and Mercury. The basic idea behind this mode isn't necessarily about killing, but rather on building up, upgrading, destroying, and controlling radio towers.
Teams will win when they beat the enemy to reaching... -

EA is Changing the Name of Their Latest Battlefield V Elite Soldier
It turns out the name belonged to a real-world resistance fighter, not a Nazi.
One of the new Elite soldiers in Battlefield V is getting a name change from EA and DICE. The new Elite, Wilhelm Franke, is the current name of one of the pre-built soldiers players can purchase for real money to use in multiplayer.
This character in Battlefield V is a German that fights for the Axis, aka "the baddies." Or to say it another way: He's a Nazi. In real life, Wilhelm Franke... -

Mercury Map Released Early as DICE Pulls Two Game Modes from Battlefield V
DICE giveth and they taketh away.
First, the good news for Battlefield V fans. Today, DICE released the new Mercury map a day earlier than expected. It seems as though today's release doesn't actually require any additional client update as it was included in the last major update from last week. That's awesome! You can dive in, perhaps literally, to the new Mercury map right now on all platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
What you cannot do right now is play the... -

A Look at the New Mercury Map Coming Thursday to Battlefield V
The battle for Crete is about to begin.
A reveal trailer for the upcoming Mercury map was released a little bit ago today. This map is coming on May 30 for everybody that owns Battlefield V and will cost you nothing. It is, hopefully, the start of some fresh maps for the game which is in desperate need of new content.
This map will be the start of a few Mediterranean themed maps. This one in particular takes place during the real-life Operation Mercury along the Cretan... -

Real Money 'Battlefield Currency' Finally Announced for Battlefield V; New Patch Arrives April 4
Two things were revealed by DICE and EA today for Battlefield V. First is the changelog for the soon to be released Battlefield V update. This is the second update for Chapter 3: Trial by Fire and, as you expect, includes a lot of changes for the Firestorm battle royale mode. Do note that the link I provided here to the update changelog is to a PDF.
With that out of the way, it's now time to talk about "Battlefield Currency." The community has already started to call... -

Battlefield V 2019 Roadmap Reveals New Map Releases and New Theater of War
DICE has finally provided the roadmap for Battlefield V through Fall 2019. Included in this roadmap are mentions of new maps, which look to begin in May, and a new theater of war. Given the name of the new theater, Awakening the Giant, slated for Fall 2019, is the upcoming theater of war.
Given the title of that new theater, I think it's safe to say that they're referencing the United States. This is based off of the famous quote from Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto in reference to... -
