  • PlayStation Plus Price Increase Announced

Sony announced new price increases for PlayStation Plus that will go into effect starting May 20th for new customers in select regions. The price increase "does not apply to current subscribers" unless you live in Turkey and India. Sony says that the reason for the change is due to "ongoing market conditions."

Sony made the announcement through Twitter to really maximize the anger they would get in response to this announcement. This news also came on the same day in which PlayStation's Hermen Hulst confirmed that the studio would no longer release their first-party single-player titles on PC.

The "select regions" where this price increase would happen were not specified by Sony. However, they did give a breakdown of the new prices for both 1-month and 3-month subscriptions.

PlayStation Plus subscriptions will now start at $10.99 USD (€9.99 / £7.99) for a month, while three-month subscriptions will go up to $27.99 (€27.99 / £21.99). This is an increase of $1 for the one-month subscription while the three-month subscription is upped by $3. Surely these prices will go back down once the "ongoing market conditions" cease to be "ongoing," right?

In March 2026, Sony increased the price of PlayStation 5 hardware due to "continued pressures in the global economic landscape." Back in 2023, Sony increased the prices on 12-month subscriptions to PlayStation Plus back in late 2023.
