Sony is making even more changes in their managerial roles. The latest was announced early this morning with Hermen Hulst taking over as the new Head of Worldwide Studios (WWS). Hermen Hulst is the co-founder of Guerrilla Games and most recently served as the development studio's Managing Director.

Hulst's promotion also means that Shuhei Yoshida is getting shifted around a bit within PlayStation. Thankfully, Yoshida isn't leaving the company. He will insteads move from being the President of Worldwide...

Shawn Layden Out as Boss of PlayStation Worldwide Studios

Layden's departure was announced suddenly via Twitter.

PlayStation Worldwide Studios boss Shawn Layden is "departing" from the studio according to a new tweet sent out by Sony.

This announcement seems to have come rather suddenly and with little to nothing in the way of foreshadowing. Layden was with Sony for over 30 years. He began in 1987 working in public relations for the tech giant. He then moved on to be an assistant to Sony co-founder Akio Morito for a number of years.

Shawn Layden then managed an international software...

Microsoft and Sony Announce Team Up for Gaming and Cloud Services

This partnership focuses on "game and content-streaming services."

Microsoft announced today that they and Sony have formed a partnership that will see the two working together on AI solutions and "innovations to enhance customer experiences in their direct-to-consumer entertainment platforms." That's probably as close as you're going to get to them strongly hinting at some form of actual gaming partnership in this announcement release.

The two studios will work together to create new cloud solutions using Microsoft's Azure...

    Sony to Skip E3 2019

Sony will not be at E3 2019. This surprising news was confirmed today from a press release sent out by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the group that organizes and runs E3 each year. This means that Sony will not have a traditional pre-show conference. This also means that Sony will not have a booth at E3 2019. Sony is the latest of the "Big 3" to ditch the annual conference. Out of Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft only the last one remains. Nintendo gave up on the traditional E3 shows some years back, instead opting for their pre-recorded Nintendo Direct a...

Sony Takes a Page from Nintendo, Announces PlayStation Classic

Early this morning, Sony announced the PlayStation Classic. Similar in style to the NES Classic or SNES Classic, the PlayStation Classic will come with 20 games pre-loaded onto a miniature piece of hardware that resembles the original PlayStation console. It's gearing up for release on December 3, the 24th anniversary of the original's release.

The PlayStation Classic will retail for $99 (USD) and includes 20 games, two controllers, an HDMI cable, and a USB cable. Oddly, it seems as though the two controllers aren't of the DualShock variety, but...

GRIP Embraces the Parkour Scene with New Carkour Mode Coming this Fall

When I think of weird futuristic cars that can drive upside down as well as they can when right-side up, I think of parkour. I think of people traversing their environment in unusual ways. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Fortunately for you, the developer of GRIP, Caged Element Inc., feel the same way. Which is why they're introducing a new "Carkour" mode this Fall.
